Our Mission Statement
First Baptist Church…“a church with a passion for God and a love for people”

Our mission as a church is to reproduce disciples of Jesus Christ in Olds and around the world who have a passion for God and a love for all people.

Jesus Christ is the head of our church and the Bible is our source for truth. Our mission flows from two of Jesus’ central teachings in the Bible traditionally referred to as the Great Commission and the Great Commandment.

The Great Commission
Jesus said: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20

The Great Commandment
Jesus said: “`Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' [and] `Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these." Mark 12:30-31

In the Great Commission, Jesus directs us to the work of disciple making and multiplication. “Disciples” are followers of Jesus whose lives mirror His priorities and who follow His commands. Jesus’ priorities and commands are found in the Great Commandment where Jesus declares that His commands are summed up in two things: loving God with everything you have (in other words, with passion) and loving your “neighbour” (in other words, all people without distinction) as you would want to be loved and cared for. Given these two directives to us from Jesus, we at First Baptist Church, Olds, have determined that we want to be the friendliest place that you will ever find to experience God.

To accomplish that mission, we have set five priority goals.
